Aged Care Workforce Strategy Taskforce starts work

The Aged Care Workforce Strategy Taskforce has started its work, with new approaches planned to discuss and consult on workforce issues.

The first Taskforce activity is to hold workshops to discuss why growing and sustaining the workforce is necessary to meet the care needs of older people across Australia.

A range of organisations and people are being invited to participate, with the support of Taskforce members and a number of peak organisations.

The first group of these workshops will include aged care workers and consumer representatives, and will be held in November in:

  • Ballarat
  • Launceston
  • Brisbane
  • Adelaide.

More workshops are planned for early 2018. Information on these sessions and other Taskforce activities will be made available on the Department of Health website https://agedcare.health.gov.au/reform/aged-care-workforce-strategy-taskforce

The Minister for Aged Care, the Hon Ken Wyatt AM, MP announced the Terms of Reference and membership on 1 November 2017.

Since his appointment as chair of the Taskforce, Professor John Pollaers has spoken with a number of organisations and individuals, within and outside the sector, to inform his approach to chairing the Taskforce.
