Expo for aged care employment opportunities

IRT Group is holding a Careers and Learning Expo in Wollongong on Thursday 7 December from 10am to 3pm.

 

The community-owned organisation has 30 job opportunities and 50 fully-funded training vacancies available in 2018 and is on the hunt for the next generation of recruits.

 

As one of Australia’s fastest-growing sectors, with an expected 35% increase in full-time employment over the next three years, demand for qualified aged care employees far outstrips supply.

 

IRT’s Career and Learning Expo offers new entrants an opportunity to capitalise on the growing career prospects that Australia’s ageing population will provide over the next three decades.

 

“The Expo will give students and job seekers the latest information on IRT’s 2018 Apprenticeships, Traineeships and Pathways to University placements,” said IRT Group’s Head of People & Culture, Campbell McGlynn.

 

“Participants can take advantage of a range of activities, including having a chat with a carer about a day in their life or experiencing a mini interview to get tips to improve.”

 

Mr McGlynn said there will be lots of information about IRT Academy’s specialist training and accredited courses for the aged care, home and community sectors, some of which are offered to students at government-funded reduced fees.

 

“The Government recognises the need for more aged care employees, so students can take advantage of discounted training in a wide range of fields — from ageing support, leisure and health, to leadership and management, and training in medication assistance, palliative or dementia care,” he said.

 

“I encourage anyone interested in a career in aged care to come along, bring your resume and have a chat with our team. It could be the start of a rewarding and lifelong career.”
