Reducing refundable accommodation deposit paperwork

The Australian Government is streamlining aged care accommodation approvals.

The Minister for Aged Care, Ken Wyatt, said the new accommodation price renewal system would simplify the process for providers not seeking to increase their charges, when their approvals lapse.

Providers charging residents more than $550,000 for a refundable accommodation deposit (RAD) must renew their approval through the Aged Care Pricing Commissioner every four years.

Under the new system, those who are not seeking to increase prices or change accommodation groups will now be able to complete a much shorter, simplified renewal application.

Providers uncertain about which form to use, or with other questions about the process may contact the Aged Care Pricing Commissioner on 1300 550 970.

Application forms and explanatory information are available at the Aged Care Pricing Commissioner website.
