Aged care development for Claremont WA
An innovative development comprising a childcare facility and aged care accommodation is set to be built at LandCorp's Claremont on the Park project in Western Perth.
Oryx Communities has been named as the preferred proponent to develop a $107 million multi-generational facility on the corner of Graylands and Shenton roads.
Known as The Queenslea, the development proposes to provide aged care for about 115 residents and offer a variety of housing options and support services.
It will include in the order of 60 fully serviced independent and assisted living units with the capacity to respond to Western Australia's demand for accommodation for National Disability Insurance Scheme supported residents.
Residents will also have access to residential respite care, memory support day care and a range of health care services at the development's community care hub.
In addition, The Queenslea will incorporate a childcare centre catering for more than 80 children. The centre will operate using an innovative intergenerational model that enables children to engage with senior residents, creating a vibrant, multi-generational community.
The site adjoins Claremont Oval and is within close walking distance to the Claremont train station, Claremont town centre, and surrounding community amenities.
The project is one of more than 30 aged care development opportunities through land transfers, rezonings, development approvals and State Government land projects.
Together, the projects are expected to create at least another 1,500 aged care beds over the coming years.
