SA home battery scheme

The South Australian State Government has launched its Home Battery Scheme, with households able to access up to $6,000 towards a battery.

The scheme will enable 40,000 households across the state to get a battery, leading to cheaper bills and more reliable supply.

If you don't have solar panels, the Government is providing low-interest loans to help households to make the switch to solar and a battery.

German energy giant sonnen will establish a new manufacturing centre at the former GM Holden site at Elizabeth, creating more than 400 manufacturing and installation jobs for locals.

50,000 energy storage systems will be made in Adelaide over the next five years and the Elizabeth site will become sonnen's central shipping facility for Australia and the Asia and South Pacific region.

The sonnenBatterie can charge and discharge up to three times a day, making it ideal to form a 'virtual power plant' capable of supplying energy to the grid on days of high demand.
