Latest in-home technology hub for assisted independent living

Tunstall Healthcare joined industry leaders to launch the Assistive Housing Hub Smart Display Home in Preston, in Victoria last Wednesday 15 May 2019.

The Assistive Housing Hub is a demonstration facility for the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) to help designers, architects, builders and community care organisations understand the breath of in-home technology available, to allow for independent and supported living.

The hub offers a multi-sensory experience for individuals to see, touch and hear a variety of assistive technologies and interior design options. The one-stop-shop will support the decision-making journey for NDIS participants, their family, carers or plan managers, bringing the technologies and home design options together to experience a home-like setting.

The Assistive Housing Hub was initiated by Active Community Housing and Haven; Home, Safe with project partners Hafele Australia (leading specialist in furniture fittings and architectural hardware) and Techsmax (experts in home automation), joining Tunstall Healthcare to offer the best technology in assisted independent living including voice-activated technology and flexible kitchen systems.

Tunstall Healthcare has provided their smart home assistive technology and 24/7 Customer Care Centre services to the project. The technology on display includes their Smart Hub Medical Alarm, Vibby Fall Detector, Bellman & Symfon range, and a Tunstall Connected Health Kit. As new product ranges become available; they will be added to The Assistive Housing Hub display.

Tunstall Healthcare Managing Director Lyn Davies says the Assistive Housing Hub is a great way to showcase the array of assisted technologies that are currently available for people who require assisted living environments.

“The collaborative project aims to offer insight into how effective assistive technologies are for NDIS participants who are seeking independence – whether it be designing a community group home, renovating or building a new home,” says Ms. Davies.

All Tunstall assistive technologies are monitored by their 24/7 Customer Care Centre and provide friends and family members monitoring access through secure, real-time applications.

The launch is a step forward for NDIS participants to live safely and independently in their own home. The hub brings together key industry leaders to offer the very best in assistive in-home technology to provide clarity and a more seamless decision-making process for those in need.
